History of Accra

Like many other countries, Ghana was also under British rule for an extended period. As a result, the impact of that rule and the struggle for freedom is quite evident in this country's capital city. It was not until 1957 that the colonization came to an end, and much after that, the slave trade stopped.

The mausoleum has stunning Italian marble working, with a black star at its apex, to symbolize unity.
